What is a DOI?

The Digital Object Identifier (DOI) is a permanent alphanumeric code assigned to digital works such as research articles, book chapters, and datasets. It functions as a stable link, guaranteeing that scholarly content remains accessible and traceable, regardless of changes to its web address (URL).

 

At the International Journal of Research Publications in Engineering, Technology and Management (IJRPETM), every published article is issued a DOI through CrossRef, one of the world’s leading DOI registration agencies. This practice ensures that all IJRPETM publications are permanently preserved, globally citable, and seamlessly discoverable within academic and research communities.

Structure of a DOI

A DOI is composed of two parts: a prefix and a suffix, separated by a forward slash (/).

1. Prefix – 10.15662

·        The prefix is assigned by the registration agency (e.g., CrossRef).

·        It identifies the publisher or the journal.

·        The “10” indicates the DOI directory.

·        The “15662” is the unique identifier for the publisher of IJRPETM.

2. Suffix – IJRPETM.2025.0804001

·        The suffix is created by the publisher to uniquely identify each article.

·        It typically includes:

o   Journal abbreviation (e.g., IJRPETM)

o   Year of publication (e.g., 2025)

o   Volume and issue numbers (e.g., 07 for Volume 8, 05 for Issue 5)

o   Unique article number (e.g., 001)

Together, the prefix and suffix create a globally unique digital fingerprint for every publication.
