Abstract

Cloud applications increasingly operate across distributed, dynamic, and interconnected infrastructures where conventional security and resilience mechanisms may struggle to respond to rapidly changing threats. This research proposes a cognitive digital resilience framework that integrates Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI), cloud observability, intelligent threat detection, behavioral analytics, and automated security intelligence to strengthen the resilience of modern cloud applications. The proposed framework continuously collects telemetry from applications, infrastructure, identities, APIs, containers, networks, and cloud services and transforms heterogeneous information into contextual security intelligence. Machine learning techniques identify anomalous behaviors, while GenAI analyzes correlated events, generates incident explanations, supports threat investigation, and recommends adaptive mitigation strategies. A cognitive decision layer integrates historical incidents, threat intelligence, application context, vulnerability information, and operational policies to prioritize risks and coordinate defensive responses. The methodology incorporates data preprocessing, feature engineering, anomaly detection, contextual threat correlation, retrieval-augmented generative analysis, resilience assessment, and experimental validation. Evaluation considers detection accuracy, false-positive rate, response latency, resilience recovery time, intelligence quality, scalability, and computational overhead. The framework aims to shift cloud security from reactive monitoring toward continuous cognitive resilience by enabling applications and security operations to understand evolving conditions, anticipate potential disruptions, and coordinate appropriate responses. The research provides an integrated foundation for improving security visibility, operational continuity, and adaptive defense in complex cloud application environments.
